Layne Labs breeds animals for zoos, wildlife rehabilitators, reptile breeders and hobbyists.
Layne Labs is a USDA-licensed Facility
Bred & Raised 100% Clean Fresh, Healthy, Dry
Our animals are bred with a constant flow of fresh air, clean drinking water, nutritious food, and clean, dry bedding.
That’s why zoos, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and breeders have relied on Layne Labs to feed their snakes, reptiles, carnivores, and birds of prey for 18 years.
Natural Food for Reptiles, Snakes, Birds of Prey & Other Carnivores
We’re fanatical about sanitation, animal nutrition, and providing a healthy living environment.
Layne animals make a healthy, nutritious meal ~ the food hobbyists want to feed their critters, the food critters want for dinner.
When Nature decides wild carnivores eat veggies…
…we will grow the best Organic, Hand Harvested, Locally Sourced veggies.
Until then, we breed mice.

Layne Labs Natural Foods Since 1992
Reptile Food and Snake Food
From day old pinky mice to jumbo rats, Layne Labs provides just the right size snake food and reptile food for your pets. Layne animals are individually flash frozen, with legs and tail tucked neatly under, then bagged and shipped to your door. No ‘mouse bricks’ or ‘rats blocks’ to pry apart at feeding time.
Carnivores have a very simple digestive system because meat is easier to break down into energy than vegetable matter. Dogs and cats are carnivores and should be fed food that their bodies were designed to eat; a ‘whole animal’ raw meat, bone and organ diet. Layne Labs provides whole mice, rats, rabbits and quail, including the bones, fur and organs important in a carnivore diet.
Birds of Prey
All birds of prey eat some type of animal flesh, including reptiles, insects, fish, birds, mammals, molluscs, and carrion. Layne Labs provides frozen mice, rats, rabbits, chicks and quail to cover a wide variety of birds of prey diets. Preparing a bird for return to the wild? Layne Labs offers brown mice as well, call our office for details.
A healthier animal, high in nutritional value, and more robust in size
Our mice and rats are housed and bred in a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) licensed 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Arroyo Grande, California.
